TB Reviews With A Twist by Staci Hart

Love is somewhere near the bottom of Lily Thomas’ list of life goals, right next to competitive eating and underwater cave diving. She’s spent six years pirouetting and pliéing her way up the ranks of the New York Ballet with her eye on the prize and love in the back seat. But now that Blane Baker -- Lily’s long time crush -- is finally single, she’ll throw her rules out the window without thinking twice.

Reality with Blane isn’t as epic as the fantasy she imagined, and the truth sends her spinning straight into the arms of the man she never knew she’d always wanted.

West Williams has been friends with Lily since the day she moved into their building and he saved her armoire from a swift, sudden death by staircase. Their friendship has always been easy, the boundaries clearly defined. With neither of them willing to risk their relationship, they’ve drifted happily through the years as companions, never considering more.

That is, until they do. And that realization changes everything.

I’ve been a fan of Staci Hart and her incredible stories for quite some time and I honestly don’t believe she could write a bad book, even if she tried. While I love Hart’s gods and their games, her parkouring thieves, and her sexy shorts, all of which are completely unique and different from what's popular in today's market, I was a bit hesitant when I found out she was writing a contemporary friends to lovers romantic comedy. Silly of me to worry, because of course With A Twist was yet another remarkable read!

Lily Thomas and West Williams have known each other for years. Both unavailable when they first met, they fell into an easy friendship. Just like their friends, I could see that Lily and West were meant to be, but of course neither of them view the other as more than a best friend. Instead, Lily is hung up on her high school crush, Blane, who is finally giving her the time of day and West, who is open to love, just can’t seem to find the woman that will make him really feel. It just takes one night for West to finally see what is right in front of him, but the timing was all wrong, which of course only creates problems. I do have to say, it took a while for any revelation of love to happen and I wouldn't have minded either realizing their feelings sooner.

Lily and West are both such great characters. Lily gives her all to her career, she's fun and a wonderful friend, but also a bit...naive, which made me love her more, even if I wanted to shake her for carrying on with Blane. West is basically a dream guy; smart and driven, super sexy with a beard and man-bun, and he actually wants love *swoon*. It wasn't just Lily and West I became invested in while reading though, With A Twist introduced a great group of friends that I got to know just enough to want to know more. Each friend was interesting in their own way and I’m anxious for their stories.

With A Twist isn't all romance; there's plenty of drama, a bunch of laughs, and a few bumps along the way too. As usual, Hart delivers a delightful story with charming characters, entertaining dialogue, and just the right amount of feels. With A Twist is definitely a fun, sweet, lighthearted read you don't want to miss!
