Grace, who barely remembers how to date, doesn't expect to meet anyone special, so she’s surprised that the owner of a local ski rental shop, Tray Bradshaw, makes her heart leap with interest and attraction. When a rogue snowstorm traps the pair in an abandoned cabin, they'll get to know each other, and discover that it's never too late to change...or fall in love.

If I didn’t already love Katy’s writing, then this one would definitely hook me.
Most novellas seem to lack storyline, or development of characters, so I applaud Katy for making this a well rounded novella that will quickly make you believe in second chances.

Frosted is so different from many books in that you don’t have the young 20 something couples.  It’s the story of a widow who is trying to find her way in the world again.

Grace is fifty-six, a mother, and a grandmother, but yet so alone.  She’s been a widow for a few years and because she has a lot of money, she’s never trusted anyone who has tried to vie for her attention.  Her marriage seemed to be more of a marriage of convenience instead of the heat and passion she wanted.  She wants to be wooed and romanced like so many of the characters in the movies she’s watched.

As her daughter decides it’s time for Grace to find a husband, she sends her on a singles weekend retreat.  Even there, Grace is lonesome.  My heart really breaks for her because even though she seems to have it all, she really doesn’t.

While on her weekend, she decides to go skiing and finds herself lost and hurt.  When Tray, the ski resort owner, saves the day, she is really saved in more ways than one.  Tray is a widower and also searching for love but didn’t expect to find it with Grace.  He realizes she has money and is well educated but he also feels those sparks that he hasn’t felt in years.

“I’m positive I met the real you last night, and I’m certain she was the woman who fell asleep in my arms.  She was someone I wanted to know, someone I would’ve tried to hold on to for as long as she would’ve let me.”

As they are trapped together, they learn more about each other and realize they have more in common than they realize.  I think this becomes my favorite part of the book because you get into the deep emotions of both of their characters.  It hasn’t been easy for either of them but they have found their way to each other.  It’s such a sweet and tender story and by the end, you will believe in a second chance at true love.  The emotions brought out in this novella really touched my heart and brought out a few tears.  It’s not a hot and steamy read but I feel that it would have taken away from being such a beautiful story if it had been written any other way and I give this book 5 stars!!
