Julie Reviews Sweet Perdition by Cynthia Rayne

Librarians and bikers don't mix...or do they? Good girl Elizabeth Williams is drinking her cares away at Perdition, a notorious biker bar in her hometown of Hell, Texas. She meets Ryker, a member of the Four Horsemen and they start a fun, sexual fling. Ryker is usually "wham, bam, and get the hell out" with the wild girls who hang around his club, but he finds himself falling for the sassy librarian. Could they have a shot at something real?

Sweet Perdition is lighter in tone than the rest of the books. It is a short novel/long novella that serves as an intro to the Four Horsemen MC series.

Sweet Perdition is the first book in the Four Horseman MC Series and I was pleasantly surprised with this one.  You have the hotness of Ryker, a badass biker, with the sweet and fairly innocent Elizabeth, aka Pinky as Ryker calls her.

Elizabeth happens to stumble into Perdition, the local biker bar, after being in her friend’s wedding.  She’s drowning her sorrows in alcohol because her friend married her ex, Carl, who turns out to be a major part of this story.

Once Ryker sees her in her fluffy pink dress, he names her Pinky and knows he wants her, but only for his fun and games.  Like any biker, Ryker doesn’t do relationships at all.  He sticks with the hellions (aka whores) in the MC because he knows there are no strings attached with them.

As Ryker gets to know ‘Pinky’ over a few drinks, he knows he wants to see her again and from the first moment, he’s very possessive over her.  I love his controlling ways and how he demands the other bikers keep their distance from her.  Believe me, he is very persuasive and they don’t want to cross him!!

Elizabeth is a librarian and very na├»ve when it comes to bikers.  She doesn’t know how they live or what they do.  I do love her innocence about her but yet she has quite the mouth on her and gives Ryker such a hard time right back.  She doesn’t put up with him trying to control her and always speaks her mind with him.  I think that is one thing that makes this book work for me.  You don’t have the pushover who will just roll over and submit.  She really gives as good as she gets.

As Carl, the ex, starts to appear more and more, Ryker certainly puts him in his place and Elizabeth adds to the mix as well.  She is hilarious!!  She ends up showing more and more courage and knows she’s falling hard for Ryker but isn’t happy at all with the biker ways, especially with the hellions always lurking around the club.  But one thing Ryker soon finds out is that he wants Pinky to be his and boy does he lay claim to her!!

Elizabeth and Ryker make for one hell of a team.  I love her attitude and his demanding ways.  One thing for sure is that she certainly doesn’t make it easy for him.  He really has his work cut out for him and that makes such a great challenge for him.  Their chemistry is definitely off the charts HOT and yet it’s a witty book because she doesn’t just roll over for him.  The other characters in this book definitely make me want to read more of this series.  I give this book 4 stars and I’m ready for more Horsemen!!
