REVIEW: KNIGHT AND DAY (THE KNIGHT TRILOGY) by Kitty French

Knight 3
Kara Brookes hates liars. Dylan Day hasn’t told the truth from the moment his plane touched down in Ibiza. It’s a recipe for disaster. Lucien and Sophie are back, and have set up camp on the sun-drenched isle of Ibiza for the opening of the latest of Lucien’s strictly adult clubs. They’re joined for the summer by Sophie’s best friend Kara, and Dylan Day, Lucien’s newly appointed club manager. The laid back, smokin’ hot surf guy from California seems almost too good to be true… but there’s no smoke without fire. It’s going to be a long hot summer of love, lust, lies and wedding bells. But who will get their happy ever after? Romantic, emotional and intensely erotic, Knight & Day is the thrilling final installment of the USA Today bestselling Knight Series from Kitty French.

Review

The last installment in the Knight Trilogy takes place five years after Lucien and his Princess fell madly in lustful love. Though they are in this book as well, the main story centers around Dylan Day and Kara, Sophie’s best friend. The events in this story take place on the beautiful island of Ibiza, the perfect spot for opening one of Lucien’s sexy clubs, and the ideal location for someone to escape from their past.

Dylan Day is an American who has fled the motherland for reasons unknown, obviously. He lands a job at the club as a manager after an encounter with Lucien, who is there for the summer to ready the place for opening. Of course, where Lucien goes Sophie follows, as does her business partner Kara. Kara is having a bit of a rough time after being left at the altar the previous summer. When she meets Dylan, sparks fly as the two try to maintain a business relationship.

“The man just somehow pushed her buttons. Her alive button. Her awareness button. Her turned on button.”

“She had skin like the velvet petals of a rose and the kick-ass attitude of the prickliest cactus, and it was turning out to be a combination that drove him crazy.”

Though he’s no Lucien, Dylan is awesome in his own right. He seems like a truly great match for Kara, and I immediately wanted a happy ending for them. He has gone through a lot, as has she, and I just wanted him to tell her what he was hiding, especially because of her trust issues. It takes a while for his secret to come out, but when it does, it explodes and rains down heavily on poor Kara.

I love Lucien and Sophie. I wanted more of them after Knight and Stay and was glad to see how their relationship has grown over the years. Lucien is by far one of my favorite bad boys turned good boyfriends, and the way he adores his Princess still makes me weak in the knees. The special scene in the “secret sex alcove” melted my heart and made me deliriously happy. And let’s not forget that they have a little girl now, and Lucien as a daddy is just the sweetest thing ever.

One of my favorite aspects of Knight and Day was the bro-mance! Lucien had led quite the solitary life before Sophie and watching him slowly let Dylan in was beautiful. I found the development of their friendship equally as important as their relationships with the ladies. It was really refreshing.

“Dylan came from a family where brotherhood had turned out to stand for very little, yet he felt a quiet unity and trust in Lucien Knight.”

This book wasn’t as overtly sexy as the rest of the series. Don’t get me wrong, there was still plenty of sex to be had, but it didn’t pour from the pages as it did in the pervious two.  It did have plenty of angst though with its “do it now” and “just out with it already” moments, and had my rapt attention as the story unfolded. I am sad that this is it for Mr Knight and Mr Day, but I loved the way their stories wrapped up and am so glad I read this series! Trust me, it is worth reading at least once, but I am sure I will be going back for a second time soon!!
