Review: A GRACEFUL MESS by Nacole Stayton

Hiding behind the anguish from my past, my coyness seeps off of me like an aroma. I have felt like a stranger in my own skin, trying to claw my way out for far too long, allowing very few people to see past my fa├žade…until my eyes met with his. I felt a sudden rush of energy all the way to my core. It jolted me in ways I never thought possible.

Never in a million years would I have expected to be in the mess I am today. It all leads back to the night Parker Porter turned my world upside down. The night his hazel eyes undressed me, peeling away the layers of the woman I tried so hard to be. He awoke desires that burned deep within me and changed me in one quick glance, leaving me vulnerable and exposed, picking up the shattered pieces of my carefully constructed life…a life I should not be living…a life I was not born into, but placed into by the state of Maine.

Parker opened a door that I am far from closing until I have answers and am able to face the life I was destined to live. I just have to decide if his love is worth the mess.

“They say be careful of the quiet ones.” –Grace

Warning: This book is intended for readers 18+ due to explicit language and sexual encounters.

A Graceful Mess is one of these rare books that pulled me in and kept me reading until I finished it. This book has romance, passion, sorrow, and suspense all in one.

When I started it, I thought oh another broken girl. But, I am shocked to see otherwise. There were twists to her story that made it a great read.

Grace is far from the party girl. She has a past that she is trying to forget and doesn’t want a relationship because of her inability to trust a man. Parker has just been cheated on which is a real shocker because who wouldn’t want Parker? I mean, he is one sex machine, also referred to as the Energizer bunny, lol.

The attraction is instant but Parker knows he has to stay away from Grace. His job has put him in a place that causes him to keep a big secret hidden from her about her childhood. I love seeing how he tries to deny his feelings and push her away but keeps getting pulled back toward her. There is no denying the chemistry between them!!

“I love her like I’ve never loved anything or anyone in my life.” – Parker

Once I started this book, I just couldn’t put it down. The secrets from her past that seem to keep threatening their relationship really drew me in and kept me hooked. Seeing Grace grow from her insecurities reminds me of a flower blooming and opening up to the world. Once she started to heal and realized she loved Parker, she knew she wanted him, but who wouldn’t?

“I know what is in my heart and I want to give it to you.” – Grace

Parker is tender, hot, and in the bedroom he wants control. He is definitely my new book boyfriend. With some books, I may buy and not read for a while. This is not one of them. Once I bought it, I knew I had to see what the hype was about, and I was certainly not disappointed. I give it 4.5 stars and I will definitely be looking out for more books by Nacole.
